Metropolitan Cathedral - This neo gothic masterpiece was completed in the 1960s and dominates the city from the top of a hill. It is described as one of the largest and most important churches of the twentieth century.
Cathedral of Christ the King - Liverpool's Catholic cathedral was to have been an immense Baroque style building that would have made it the largest place of worship in the whole world, but times changes, and instead of looking towards the past, the cathedral was built in modern style, and is an incredible achievement that sits well alongside the Anglican neighbour.
